Characters

: XXX is a young bushi from the Arai clan. He is convinced that he is part of the samurai caste, although a number of circumstances cast doubt on this (I'll make a story up, something to do with his ancestors, or a curse, or something with his birth (his mother consorted with etas, for example), or something with the fact that his family is poor and barely of ji-zamurai status, or maybe all of them), which makes him being despised by some. To compensate for this, he has developped a rather belligerent attitude and has honed his dueling skills to perfection. Also, to be recognised for his martial prowess on the battlefield, he has studied military skills as much as he could. He is helped in this and in dueling by his almost supernatural capacity to lay like a snake in the grass, observing without moving, impavid and betraying nothing, just flicking his tongue out to taste the air, until he strikes with blinding speed and killing fangs. Whether this comes from his own power or is linked with a Snake (Hebi ?) Kami is still unknown, even to him...

: He has a gift of two swords (daisho ?) from his great grand father, who was entitled to become clan leader, but was usurped by another family member. The swords were a gift from the usurper to secure his family's loyalty. The family have been loyal through the subsequent generations, but Asuki wants to secure his familiy's right to lead the clan. The swords are very fine, and have generally been kept hidden, but if they are brought out, any one who sees them will be impressed. Asuki has a daisho which are ordinary, which he uses most of the time. He is a Bushi, and spends his time practicing marshal arts, and writing poetry in his spare time. He will try to use his good looks, poetry and heroism to impress the ladies of the court to improve his position.
