On their way, the boat passes another steading and a guard says that the smoke appears to be coming from the Gubrana Steading. After another hour a steading comes into sight just back from the river. A column of black smoke rizing from it.
The party set ashore and approach the homested. They eventually find a hysterical woman and two small children hiding inside the locked and baracaded doors. She tells them that a gang of broos attacked that moring and kidnaped her son and daughter. The Son was tortured in front of the family before they left. He husband and brother set of after the broos hoping to steal the girl back.
Checking the tracks, the party move off towards the hills. After a couple of hours they are passing a clif when they see at the bottom a mans body. He is alive (just) and they healhim up discovering that it is the Father. His brother in law is hiding in a crevice in the cliff, the pair having been ambushed by the broos. Whilst they are figuring out what to do next there is russling in the bushes as something starts to run away. Following in the general direction of the noise, they come accross the dead body of the boy.
After taking a few moments to shallow bury the corpse the group moves on following the now more difficult tracks. Eventually they come to a large cliff area with more caves and crevices. Climbing up proves difficult for Xingi who falls and hurts himself quite badly but they eventually get to the ledge. Following the ledge they come accross several crevice openings between the rock stacks and start to investigate. Split between several entrances the party is then attacked by three rat broos. The third rat broo leaps from on top of one of the rock stacks and almost lands on SnommI? who with great presence of mind, throws himself off the cliff to get out of the way leaving the damaged Xingi to fight the broo
