Freezeday, Disorder week, Sea Season, 1617

In the [Adrai] in the foot hills of Shadows Dance, the celebrations of Sacred time have some to an end. the first day of the new year of 1617 is cold and damp. Work for freelancers and mercenaries has been very sparce and most of those in the city apply when HonestSamual the itinerant trader posts a sign looking for caravan guards for the run to [Pavis].

After interviews he informs the selected band that the wagons will leave tomorrow at dawn for the two week trip to Pavis via the [Pairing Stone oasis]. The journey is expected to take 2 weeks for which each guard will be paid 500 lunars (a princely sum!) but there are rumours of bandits along the trail.

Waterday, Disorder week, Sea Season, 1617

The Wagons assemble outside of The Loose End (a local inn). There are four wagons, each with a driver, HonestSamual and his heavily armed but (so far) speachless bodyguard. His newly hired guards get to meet their traveling companions

RurikLondro the warrior (DaveF)
GarrickOpenhand? the warrior (PaulM)
Ardv the warrior (MattS)
SnommI the scout (PeterB)
XingiBulawayo the Zebra rider (RickO)
Varlack the warrior (TerryM)

The wagon train departs for Pairing stone.

Godday, Disorder week, Sea Season, 1617

After a week of uneventful travel through the foothills, the train reaches Pairing stone. A number of barbarian parties are there and HonestSamual trades salt, sugar and other items with them in return for furs and hides. After the trading, there is some drinking.

Freezeday, Harmony week, Sea Season, 1617

The train leaves Pairing stone for Pavis.

Waterday, Harmony week, Sea Season, 1617

During the night the camp is attacked by a band of Baboons. Several people are hurt before the band is eventually driven off. RurikLondro has his arm crippled by a spear thrust however HonestSamual manages to cast a powerful healing spell to repair the damage.

In the aftermath, amongst several adult Baboon bodies are also the bodies of 6 Baboon children, slaughtered near the mules.

Varlack and XingiBulawayo manage to sleep through the entire fight.
