Hans Otto, only child of Gunter and Dafne Otto, great grandson of the great Nikolaus August Otto was born in 1930 in Munich. His parents moved to England in 1937, nervous at the rise of the Nazi party. Even by that stage, certain of Hans's more extreme views had already been formed – it was hard to avoid the power of the Hitler youth.
He became a British citizen, along with his parents in 1942.
His wealth started from the family business of automobiles and engines. Even before the war, his father had built the business into a multi national concern with companies under the Otto Holdings banner in 15 different countries. Gunter also became well known in the financial community because of the insight of his investments and his inventive use of banking regulations in different countries which concealed and obsucured the ever growing size of the Otto families wealth.
Hans attended Oxford in 1948 to study Economics. After finishing his degree he imediately took another in Engineering, not leaving college until 1953. From there he started work for Otto Holdings, learning the trade from his father. By 1956 he was the companies head troubleshooter, working on technical, financial and personel issues all over the world. As time progressed, his acumen with financial matters became obvious, his ability to read the financial markets and manipulate them for the good of the company became a great asset. He predicted the rise of the far east engineering companies, wisely divesting the holding company of most of its European and American concerns at their height and investing in the burgeoning far is market to gain the maximum profit.
During the Cuban missile crisis of 1961 Hia mother died. Hans was too busy to attend the funeral but got a secretary to sent flowers with a message of condolences.
It was also during this period that he started to diversify his money, creating multiple shell companies and dummy corporations all over the world, many of them unknow to his family or other members of the Otto Holdings company. Bank accounts were opened in the Saichells, Switzerlands, the Caiman Islands and anywhere else where secrecy and anonimity could be guarenteed. By 1960 Hans owned or controlled (directly and indirectly) almost 10,000 companies world wide and 1990 this number had risen to over 250,000.
In 1965 he was first inducted into the cult of Otto by his father who was then the high priest of the London temple. The secrets of the cult were shown to him and he advanced through the ranks with speed and by 1972 was second in command to his father. With Gunters death in 1978, Hans became the head of the London temple, which is when he first met Otto himself. It was an extremely difficult experience – not only meeting your God but knowing that he was your great Grandfather.
Through the late seventies and early eighties, Hans started to withdraw from public life, spending more time on cult activities and the manipulation of the world financial markets from a series of mansions scattered throughout the world. The increase in computer technology was harnessed to allow 24 x 7 monitoring and trading though his reliance on such mundane means is almost non existant now.
In early 1991 he suffered a minor stroke, which whilst leaving him his mental functions confined him to a wheelchair. Seeing this as an opportunity to remove him, several board members of Otto Holdings attempted to oust him from the board. The battle took over two years through courts in the UK, USA and Germany but in the end Hans was triumphant and his enemies were the ones who were ousted. Hans took the opportunity to remove any remaining people who he did not feel were not 100% loyal, not only to him but to the cult. He also took the precaution of ensuring he had enough damning matterial on each person to enforce their loyalty. Four former members of the Otto board died within the six months, all through aparent accidents.
The cult of Otto grew in size though the 1990's until it had many influential members. Towards the end of 1999, after a tip-off, armed police raided the head quarters of the cult in Tolworth. During the ensuing battle, many police and cult members were killed but it provided the spur needed for Hans to be raised to Noble status in Ottos service.
Since becoming a Noble, Hans has also started to gain control of the Domain of Bureaucracy. Wealth and money is never far from it so it seemed only natural that it too should come under the influence of Hans.
With his powers today, he no longer needs the wheelchair, but keeps it partly to confound his enemies and partly as a reminder, because it comes from a time when he was at his weakest before his rise to god-hood. The wheelchair has been upgraded to include an extremely powerful motor (speeds in excess of 100kph) and several concealed weapons systems.
More recently he has also taken a flower – the Auricula. The choice was a simple one, it being the flower of Wealth. He has issued instructions that all of his estates and homes, even the offices of his companies should Carry displays of the flower from now on. The corporate symbol of Otto Holdings has also been changed to a stylised version of the flower.
Working almost with the other Nobles in Otto's service, he helped create Casa De Otto. Other Nobles currently have control of the realm but that is simply a matter of time before Hans takes control here as well. He considers it poorly run and not yet befitting the workshop of a god! It will require some serious investment to bring it up to acceptable levels though the recent capture of the worlds Communications systems by one of the other Nobles allows for enourmous control on Earth.
On Earth, Hans has many properties scattered through the financial capitals of the world. With his influence he was able to aquire the British Telecom tower last year as a base of operations for the Nobles of Otto. The Tower has been renamed Otto Tower.
Over the past several years, Hans has formed bonds with several of the most influential people in the world financial markets. They have come to realise that praying to Hans has many beneficial side effects – the reduced impact of the recent recession was a direct result of their prayers. The main cause of the crash (the bursting of the dot-com bubble) was brought about by Hans. He could see the iminent colapse of the economy and decided to take his profits before the markets. The size of his holdings caused a significant enough market movement to burst the bubble.
