Mission Briefing 001
- So you can plan what equipment you would like to take before the adventure starts. I'm giving you a small briefing about the situation.
- Your squad is summoned to a brief, where you are told that a unexpected Electro-Magic presence has been detected on a planet within the empires boundaries. Now when the planet was last surveyed 15 years ago, no such energy was detected. But due to the pressing business that the ship you are on has, it was decided to send your squad in a small scout ship to investigate [Ship (3.5Mb)].
- The ship will auto pilot to the planet. You will be able to keep in contact with the primary ship, buy communicator while it is withing 3 days travel of the scout ship. Your are likely to be on the planet for between 1-2 weeks before the primary ship will return. You will have three days notice of pickup, and then you must active the scout ship to return, there is a 1 day margin of error for your take off before the primary ship is out of range of the scout craft.
- You will be expected to keep the scout ships logs up to date, so that if you are unable return to the primary ship. They will at least be able to ascertain if the energy source represents a threat to the empire, or some resource that can be exploited.
- Please make a list of any equipment you wish to take with you. but bare in mind that there is a limited amount of space on the scout ship. Dave has a plan for the ship.
- The last survey of the planet gave no indication of any Sentient life on the planet, but there are flora and fauna. (I will try to send some pictures)
- All reasonable equipment request will be considered, but please don't request absurd items..:)
- Also remember there will be no resupply for at least 2 weeks, so if you don't request it, you don't have it.
- Add any Equipment requirements below, and I will approve them before we start next Wednesday, please put yours or your characters name next to any items requested so I know who wants what..
- Here is limited data so far recovered on the [Flora and Fauna]?.
EQUIPMENT

Silverbark suggests:
- Standard rations and water for the squad for 3 weeks
- Some currency in case we need to buy or bribe, someone or something
- First Aid kit, Anti-tocsins and Anti-posions for the squad (Squad will be given standard spectrum anti-toxin before mission)
- Electro-Magic detector and analyser (Analyser is too big for the scout ship, so no)
- Stun sticks, Blasters(?) and a Squad heavy weapon(?)
- Shuttle locator and timer
- Maps of the locations we are searching (no acurate data is available about the planet it was survery too long ago, some Flora and Fauna data is being recovered from archives, but that is about it)
- Ropes and climbing materials. (How Much ?)
- Clothings, tents and equipements sutable for location. (Please be more specific)
[Lady Rhyad de Grances]? suggests:
- Shelter {Tent one off 6 man)
- Sleeping bags
- Food and Drink, lots, and easy to carry.
- Different clothes, for different weather, including rain-proof (A Selection of cloths will be available)
- Camouflage suits (a la Predator) would be nice, thank you sir... {Nice Try but no)
- Underwater suits ? (Limited use Breathers, giving a maximum 30 mins underwater, need to be returned to the scot ship for recharge. 8 Available)
- Climbing Equipment (Same as for dave how much rope etc)
- Speleologist equipment ? {i.e Torches, Rope and Chalk ?)
- Packs and backpacks and pouches.
- Lamps, portable (head mounted) and big projectors. (Hand Torches)
- Communications equipment, portable and central at the camp, with back-up and jamming ? (You have 2 way radios, and are expected to keep in contact with the scout ship, incase there is a accident)
- Night-vision equipment, Infrareds ? Detection equipment, sensors ? (not available)
- Targeting lasers ? (not available)
- Weapons, to be carried (2 pistol-size weapons and a rifle size for me, please) and lots of ammo (Weapons supplied Stun Baton, Light Autopistol, Rocket Launcher with 50 AP, and 50 HE Rockets, and 50 HEAP)
- Weapons for defending the base (autocannons a la Aliens spring to mind) and creating a perimeter (Nice idea but no)
- A rocket launcher or powerful laser weapon would be welcome. Also, a mortar would be nice, you can fire without line of sight... (See answer above)
- Portable shield generators ? Shield generator for the base ? {the only shield available is the one build into the ship)
- Land mines, detectors, alarms, for the perimeter. Video cameras ? (Paranoid aren't you. Video camera yes, so you can keep a video log of what happens. It automatically records onto the scout ship)
- How about reconnaissance drones ? Ah, it is supposed to be us the drones, OK sir... ;-) (Got it in one)
- Transport: Inflatable rafts ? Speeder bikes ? AT-AT Walkers ? (There is a small 6 wheeled cargo vehicle, similar to the sort of thing seen on Stargate, it is not designed to carry passengers)
- Hang-gliders ? Propelled ? Personal boosters (a la Rocketeer) ? Mini-aircrafts ? Star Destroyers ? (Star Destroyer does not quite fit in your Scout ship)
- Gifts for locals, Gift food for animals (what sort of thing are you thinking off)
- Defoliants, all purpose poisons (No)
- How about maps from the previous survey ? (See comments about flora and fauna)
- What about Decamole equipment (i.e. inflatable equipment a la Many-Coloured Land), is it available ? (Not been developed yet, some thing for you to work on :)
- First Aid Kits, Anti-Toxin and Disease treatment (Squad will be given standard spectrum anti-toxin before mission)
- Armour ? Shields (physical or energy ones) ? (Jackets equivalent to Padded Leather are available)
- Contact weapons (Light sabers ? Vibro-blades ? Electric ? Mono-filament ? Variable Swords ? Flashlight Lasers (You have stun stick what more can you need)
- Grenade launcher ? (Interesting idea, not at this time)
- Grenades ? Smoke Grenades ? Gas Grenades ? Incendiary grenade ? Explosive for demolitions ? (No Launcher no grenades)
- Telescopic sight for the "rifle" ? Binoculars ? (No rifle no sight, Binoculars yes)
- Silencers for the weapons (pistol / rifle) ? (No)
- How about special ammo for the weapons that are not energy based, incendiary or armour piercing ? (No slug throwers available)
- What about the kind of bow that we found on the first planet ? (Nice try again, It was not available before and its still not available)
- Torches ? Flares ? (OK)
